Summary of home remedies for stressed professionals

When icebreaking during office hour of YC Startup School today, we had our group moderator just came back jet-lagged with a little visible graying sign in his hair.  A lot of other founders also mentioned stress-related symptoms during their search for product-market fit, such as physical pain, headaches, and insomnia or other sleep problems.

Half joking, he suggested perhaps I should create a post "simple remedies for entrepreneurs" to improve their health and well-being. Here it is, rough information but simple to implement at home.

1. Graying hair.  I consolidated information about graying hair home remedies in a former blog post, emphasizing common medicinal foods in everyday household, such as black sesame, walnut, pecan, and polygonum multiflorum or fo-ti root

2. Sleeping disorders. Food wise, suanzaoren (a.k.a. spinal date seeds), a classic Chinese herbal prescription have been used for treating insomnia in the 3000-year clinical trial. Some Chinese professionals have conducted a study evaluating the efficacy and safety of suanzaoren decoction (SZRD) for adult chronic insomnia disorder, using standard conventional Western research methods.

Another DIY remedy is to massage from the midway of your eyebrows to the two sides of your foreheads (picture shown here, the description is in Chinese since I bought the book from China, but the graph should be self-explanatory). The center is an acupressure point called Yin Tang.

3. Migraine and severe headaches. Medicinal foods such as kudzu and simple massage of these spots can all help. Massage spots vary based on root cause, yet some of the most common headache relieving acupressure spots can be found here.
